BayTrust and Acorn Foundation Athlete Scholarships
These scholarships recognise sporting talent within the Bay of Plenty and are designed to assist high achieving junior athletes with athlete development in international competition. *
As part of these scholarships we are also administering the Acorn Foundation Rob & Carolyn Port Sports Award. This scholarship has been kindly donated by Rob and Carolyn Port through the Acorn Foundation and will be awarded to one or two Western Bay of Plenty based athlete(s) annually.
Athlete: Any young athlete of the Bay of Plenty aged 16 to under 23 years at the time of application, residing in the region covered by the BayTrust and Sport Bay of Plenty, who have been selected for a New Zealand Representative squad or team in their chosen sport.
Athletes with Disabilities: Any athlete with a disability, of the Bay of Plenty, residing in the region covered by the BayTrust and Sport Bay of Plenty, who are a current member of a New Zealand Representative squad or team.
*Qualification requires athletes to be permanently living in the BOP region at the time of application. Athletes at university outside of the Bay of Plenty do not qualify for this scholarship.
These will be up to the value of $500 and will be awarded as a contribution towards travel only. The scholarships will be dependant on level of competition, costs associated with competition entry and travel requirements. Accommodation costs do not qualify.
BayTrust Coach/Officials Development Scholarships
These scholarships recognise the coaching and officiating volunteers within the Bay of Plenty community. They are designed to assist coaches and officials, who contribute and add value to their sport in the BOP, to further develop their skills ie: obtain a formal qualification, and it is envisaged that the development opportunity of the coach or official should have a significant impact on or be passed onto their respective communities past completion.
Coach: Any person residing permanently in the region covered by the BayTrust and Sport Bay of Plenty who is currently coaching and has a formal qualification at a recognised and endorsed level by their respective National / Regional Sporting Organisation or equivalent body.
Official: Any person residing permanently in the region covered by the BayTrust and Sport Bay of Plenty who is currently refereeing / umpiring / officiating at a recognised and endorsed level by their respective National / Regional Sporting Organisation or equivalent body.
