MLG--FLat-Lay
  • Two new workshops held on ‘Boisterous Toddlers’ and ‘Fun Schools for School’ offered in Tauranga and Rotorua. The content of these new workshops was well received and feedback was gathered for future planning to meet their needs.

Highlights

  • 455 parents have attended workshops on the importance of foundation movement skills for their child’s development.
  • 158 Early Childhood Educators influencing over 1200 children have attended a workshop at their centre to ensure they understand the importance of incorporating key physical movements in their daily practices.

Feedback from the workshops includes the following:

From Early Childhood Educators

"I had attended a previous one which I found very beneficial and wanted my homebased educators to feel inspired and increase their knowledge of the importance of active movement"

"I participated with this workshop due to the fact that physical education is very important to a child’s well-being and learning and development. It was also a free opportunity to refresh my memory for certain activities"

"Understanding more about how the brain development works in children as part of how we teach children to write"

From parents who attended the workshops

"The importance of embracing each physical milestone and not trying to rush him through it. Also learnt how much physical play and movement can impact on other learned skills such as reading and writing"

"I have rotated my daughters toys every few days & given her space to explore on her own without me interfering. She is now happy to play & explore all on her own & with the other babies at Space"

"Main thing I took from it was you can't have too much floor time. It's safe and fantastic for your baby to practice moving around and developing key skills to learn and grow"
