Oct 25, 2026
10am to 2pm
Location:Waihī Beach School
Information:
Whānau play where whānau are.
Connect with nature and celebrate the joy of play at our Whānau Nature Play Day, a free event to spend time outdoors together.
Where: Waihī Beach School grounds. Park in the community centre car parking areas and walk over, we’ll see you under the trees!
When: Sunday 25 October, 10am to 2pm.
We’ll offer playful nature stations that spark imagination, movement and connection with nature and each other. It’s a self-guided experience, so you can explore at your own pace and spend as much or as little time as you like at each station. There’s something for everyone.
On the day you can:
- Mix nature potions
- Build tiny worlds
- Create challenges with nature
- Or simply lie back and watch the clouds drift by
-
- More
Stop by the welcome gazebo to say hello, grab some sunscreen and have a look at our nature table. Please come prepared for the weather and bring a sunhat, a drink bottle and any snacks. This is a zero-waste event with no rubbish bins, so please take your rubbish home.
Our Nature Library team will be on hand to help families get started, but parents and carers are responsible for supervising their own children.
If the weather is very wet, we’ll reschedule to Sunday 22 November. We’ll share any updates here, so click "interested" to keep up to date.
This event is made possible through Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa, with thanks to Sport Bay of Plenty and Sport NZ. For Play Week Aotearoa 2026.
