Sport Bay of Plenty invites parents, athletes and coaches of young females to an evening focused on supporting young women through their adolescent years in sport.

Delivered by Dr Tanya Keough, the evening will unpack the physical and nutritional considerations for female athletes navigating puberty, and explore how changes in adolescence can influence a young female’s experience in sport. With an emphasis on education and empowerment, Dr Keough will share practical insights to help parents, coaches and athletes better understand the female body during this critical stage. The evening will reinforce the importance of putting health before performance, with the goal of keeping more girls active, confident, and engaged in sport for longer.

Dr Tanya Keogh Sport Doctor | General Practitioner | Orthopaedic Surgeon Assistant Dr Tanya Keough is the guest lecturer for Module 3: Young Female Athlete Health Considerations of the Her Strength Coach Course. Tanya has worked across various sports and has held the position of acting medical director for several teams, providing critical support and guidance in sport environments. In addition, she has expertise in orthopaedics, further enhancing her ability to address the unique health considerations of young female athletes.
