Bay of Plenty Student Sports Council

Student Voice & Sport Leadership

The Bay of Plenty Student Sport Council provides secondary students with a voice to contribute to sport throughout the region.

The Bay of Plenty Student Sport Council (BOPSSC) is made up of secondary school student representatives working together make a positive impact on secondary school sport locally.

Students selected for the BOPSSC are considered sports leaders within their school. They are nominated by their schools based on their leadership potential and enthusiasm to impact the quality of sport in their schools and our region.

They work as one unified and motivated group, but due to constraints in geography, the Council will be made up of three sub-regional groups: Eastern Bay, Central Bay and Western Bay

The purpose of the Bay of Plenty Student Sport Council is to:

  • Become a student voice on behalf of all secondary school students within BOP
  • Gain tools, skills and knowledge in sport leadership to better impact your school’s sport
  • Spread knowledge to schools' student sports councils and use tools to increase participation
  • Network and peer share/learn from like-minded students from other schools

The BOPSSC was established in 2019 to positively contribute to secondary school sport throughout the Bay. This year's BOPSSC is made up of students from 12 schools from throughout the region area ready to make a difference.
