What is Physical Literacy?

Physical literacy is “the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding required by participants that allows them to value and take responsibility for engaging in physical activity and sport for life”.

The GO4it Programme works with five to 12-year-olds in primary schools. The focus is on fundamental movement skills.

Being taught in a physical education context with three Physical Education trained staff/previous teachers the inclusion of physical literacy is strong as the programme is based on the spiritual, physical, social, emotional and cognitive dimensions in each session. Teachers continue with those messages in class.
