SportsTalk-Sporting Leaders in the Bay of Plenty
Friday, January 24, 2014
Firstly we would like to start of by saying a huge thank you to The Freemasons and the Potter Trust who kindly donated two Speedminton Sets to BOP Badminton Association. This is an adaptive version of Badminton to play outdoors and will be utilised by the BayTrust CoachForce Badminton Development Officer in schools across the BOP region, especially those who don’t have an indoor facility to be able to play traditional badminton.
The racquets are slightly bigger than a normal badminton racquet and a smaller shuttle called a ‘Speeder’ that flies better in a breeze than a traditional shuttle. There are also no posts or nets require but instead grids that you peg into the ground, making it easy to play on either grass or on sand at the beach.
The 2014 Badminton season is about to start!
