Describe your role at Sport BOP
Ko Lena Kairau taku ingoa – Active Families is a programme that allows you and your whanau to learn fun and adventurous ways to get active and eat healthy.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job and why?
Watching the reaction on the children’s and parents faces when they have achieved something or did something that is way outside their comfort zone….PRICELESS!
What is the most challenging aspect and why?
Getting whanau to engage - influencing positive food habits! The battle against marketing….the struggle is real!
When you’re not working at Sport BOP, what do you like to get up to?
- Going surfing with my whanau
- Mau rakau
- Walking up Mauao with my whanau and friends
- Going to the gym…at 5.30am….to attend group classes at the Aquatics centre….I love the encouragement and a challenge….always a great start to my day!
And for fun, if you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
Jumper….jump from here to Hawaii

The day the lovely Operations Manager from Sport BOP Lisa Dangen cut my fringe….she did a fab job and I saved myself $20 hehe!!!
I also represented NZ Women’s Rugby – Black Ferns - waaaayyyy back in the day!!!
