Omokoroa Coastal Challenge Raising Funds for Community

Thursday, August 25, 2016

Last year the Omokoroa Fun Run was a huge success with 270 entrants, raising over $5000 for the Omokoroa Skate Path project.

This year we have rebranded the event the ‘Omokoroa Coastal Challenge’, have added a Duathlon to the line-up and are aiming for a bigger and better event.

The Omokoroa Coastal Challenge is a family and community event with something for everyone regardless of whether they are already fit and looking for a competition, need a fitness goal to work towards or just want to be active and support a good cause.

This year our events are a 2km walk/run aimed at children and young people, 5km run/walk, 10km run and a for those wanting more of a challenge there is a Duathlon which consists of a 10km road cycle and then either a 5km or 10km run. All the routes start at the Omokoroa Domain and work their way around our beautiful and scenic peninsula.

We will have food, drinks and entertainment for the whole family as well as great prizes and giveaways.

There is an early bird discount if you register before 11th September. For more information and to register go to and like the Facebook page to keep up with all the news.

With a rapidly increasing population in Omokoroa our community has been identified the need for a larger and more versatile sports pavilion to cater for the growing number of sports available in the area and to also offer a venue for other community groups to use. It therefore seemed fitting that the proceeds from the Omokoroa Coastal Challenge 2016 should go towards this project.
