The Bay of Plenty is surrounded by water - oceans, lakes and rivers.
Whether you are ready to dip your toe in or are already a water baby there’s something new for everyone to try in November with Play in the Bay’s Water Month. It’s your chance to get comfortable in and around water to make the most of our amazing natural beauty with beginner specific opportunities all over the Bay of Plenty.
Those new to the water will benefit greatly from one of the learn to swim options available throughout the month. There’s learn to swim opportunities for kids and adults alike and as well as the obvious safety benefits, learning to swim opens up a whole new realm of possibilities in the water like snorkelling, diving and surfing.
Another great initiative for water safety happening in November is Beach Kidz; a programme designed for 2-5 year olds to learn basic water safety skills and safe practices through play and fun.
Other great options for kids include aquatic centre family fun days, aquatic centre deep pool day -with bombing competitions, inflatable day and learn to snorkel classes.
Play in the Bay is all about having a go, so during November why not make the most of one of the waka ama, canoeing, sailing, stand up paddling or surfing sessions.
As well as being fun all of these activities are great for your fitness too. Those who enjoy group fitness style classes will love aqua zumba and aqua combat – both are water based versions of their popular gym equivalents and available during November.
