New Zealand Wheel Black's in town
Wednesday, May 1, 2013
In conjunction with Parafed BOP and Tauranga City Council small project investment fund, a leg of the national series New Zealand Rugby Foundation Wheelchair Rugby Competition is coming to ASB Arena this weekend May 4-5.
New Zealand Wheel Black players as a part of a development team fresh from coming fourth at a 50 team German tournament will be there plus many more from around the country and BOP in crash hot action.
Parafed BOP is hosting a “Have a Go” day alongside the wheelchair rugby promoting opportunities for our community like Para-Triathlon, Table Tennis, Wheelchair Basket Ball, Indoor Bowls, and Boccia this Saturday, 10am-2pm.
“Have a Go” is so grass roots you can smell the dirt. Anyone can come along and find a sport to fall in love with and we hope it’s a life long romance. There is no commitment, if the participant wants to continue in the sport there are outlets available.
Jump a couple of levels and you have a national series running alongside. We hope this inspires people to get involved regularly as they can see, smell and hear what it brings and can be achieved.
Parafed BOP has tasked itself with ensuring pathways sporting are available for the regions physically disabled. Pathways for us mean an athlete can enter, compete or strive to the highest level through us or a provider we have worked with to make certain they cater for the specialized needs. The events in weekend are a demonstration of this.
The approach of hosting events and creating programmes around them is working and quantified as our membership, networks and ultimately our impact increases.
Why don’t you come down this weekend? Get involved or just let us know how we are doing.
