New home needed for Youth Engagement Programme

Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Sport Bay of Plenty is searching for a new premises to house its Youth Engagement Programme participants – and we need your help!

Our Youth Engagement Programme utilises sport as a way to empower disengaged youth (aged 16-24 years) in the region, whether they are increasing participating in physical activity, assisting with the operations and administration of sporting events or volunteering their skills to local sporting clubs.

All participants have an individualised plan, which outlines targets they need to achieve through mentoring and support while on the programme, and since its launch in July 2012 has seen hundreds of youth reintegrated into the community as happy and healthy individuals.

However, due an increased demand and the programme’s success, we need more space to enable the best possible outcomes for our participants.

As such, we are currently looking for an offsite location which has (ideally):

  • An ongoing lease
  • Large enough space for up to 25 people
  • Meeting space
  • Storage space
  • Kitchen area
  • Shower / toilet
  • Is close to green space and also Sport BOP (Devonport Road, Tauranga)
  • Near the bus route
  • And one or two car parks.

If you, or someone you know, has a space which meets some or all of our needs, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact Mel Short on or 021 860 063
