New Beginner Walking Group starting in Papamoa East
Thursday, June 6, 2013
There’s no such thing as bad weather for walking, only bad clothes! Winter can be one of the most enjoyable times for walking, it’s not too hot, the air is fresh and crisp and you can layer up with snug warm clothes. The benefits of walking are enormous; keeping active and positive over winter goes a long way towards keeping well and healthy.
Many City on its Feet walkers have realized the benefits of winter walking and are adamant the change in weather is no excuse to stay indoors. Being part of a group is good motivation too – you don’t want to let other people down. By getting out and active in the fresh air and catching up with your walking friends, almost guarantees that once you’re out there you’ll enjoy the experience.
Green Prescription and City on its Feet are teaming up to offer a new walking group in Papamoa East. With no current City on its Feet walking groups in this area, there is an opportunity for a new group to start in the community. Walking is a great option for those looking to start exercising, “the group on offer will cater for beginners and will be well supported to get up and running” says Green Prescription Advisor, Larissa Simmen.
The new walking group will be starting on Tuesday 18th June and will meet at Simpson Reserve (Corner Parton and Dickson Road) every Tuesday at 9.30am.
Remember walking is free, fun and friendly and is a great way to keep active through winter. If you are keen to join this new walking group register your interest by contacting the City on its Feet or Green Prescription team at Sport Bay of Plenty on 578 0016 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
