Discover Matakana Island with the Waipuna Hospice Neil Scott Memorial Walk on Sunday 21 October, 8:30am.
Experience island culture and customs. Enjoy stunning views with interesting and varied terrain: farmland, hills, road and estuary. The walk will take you from the wharf at Matakana Island to Te Ahipuhipuhi and over the hills. Join Waipuna Hospice for this 12 km remembrance walk open to families, friends or anybody that is keen to visit or those that are curious minded and wish to see Matakana Island. … everyone!
All proceeds for the hikoi will go to Waipuna Hospice, where Neil and whānau received such wonderful and loving care in his last weeks.
Everyone is welcome to take part for whatever reason.
What to bring
- A packed lunch, drinks and snacks
- Any required medication
- Sturdy walking shoes and weather-appropriate, clothing (windproof jacket, sunhat, sunglasses; sunscreen, etc.)
- Cash for barge: $10 adult return, $5 child return – payable direct to ferry.
Ferry leaves from Omokoroa Wharf using the already scheduled services. We will be meeting at 8.30 am at the Omokoroa Ferry Terminal (The Esplanade, Omokoroa 3114) in order to catch the scheduled ferry departure of 9am.
Please note if weather is poor the postponement date will be Sunday, 28 October 2018
Tickets for the walk:
$20 per adult
$10 per child (aged under 12yrs & under)
$50 per family (2 adult & 2 children or 1 adult & 3 children)
