Leading coach developer visits Rotorua
Friday, September 14, 2018
International coach developer Wayne Goldsmith is visiting Rotorua on September 20 to help local parents become exceptional sporting parents.
During his free Rotorua workshop, Goldsmith will take parents through the ten critical moments in a child’s sporting journey when they need to be supportive and encouraging.
Goldsmith is an international sports coach who has influenced the coaching, teaching and thinking of some of the world’s leading athletes, coaches and teams. His past and present clients include the Sydney Roosters, the US Olympics Committee and Tennis Australia. The visit is part of Goldsmith’s “Sport Experience – Making Sport Better Tour” of New Zealand.
Belinda Muller, Sport Bay of Plenty’s Youth Sport Systems Advisor, is helping organise Goldsmith’s visit to the Bay of Plenty and says the upcoming Rotorua workshop is a chance for parents to learn how to best support their children throughout their involvement in sport.
“Parents can have a huge influence on their child’s relationship with sport and physical activity,” Muller says.
“Providing support, nurturing a child’s interest in physical activity and giving unconditional love is valuable to how kids relate to sport now and as they grow.”
Sporting Parents – 10 Critical Moments is a free workshop for any parents interested in learning more about how they can become the best sporting parents they can be. Registrations for the workshop close Tuesday 19 September.
