Can you walk 10,000 steps, every day, for a month? That's the challenge laid down by New Zealand Red Cross as part of a fundraising event.
Red Cross Journey is a month-long fundraising event which asks individuals or teams to walk 10,000 steps every day between May 8 and June 8. This event is not only a great way to challenge yourself and your friends to get active for a month – it’s also a peer-to-peer fundraising event.
When you register for Red Cross Journey through the online platform, you’ll create your own fundraising page. You will have a unique URL (web address) which you will be able to share with your own networks – friends, family, colleagues, flatmates, neighbours – and ask them for donations.
The campaign is designed to raise awareness of the hardship that those who recieve Red Cross funds, as well as the volunteers who work tirelessly to support Red Cross with their services.
The event is particularly poignant as money raised for New Zealand Red Cross will go to helping flood-affected residents in the wider Bay of Plenty area.
Registrations are open from April 20, with the walking challenge to begin on May 8.
