ITM Cup: Canterbury extends unbeaten start
Friday, September 6, 2013
A halftime attitude adjustment has seen defending champions Canterbury extend their unbeaten start to the ITM Cup against Bay of Plenty in Rotorua.
The visitors scored all but six of their points in the final 45 minutes, running in six tries to two for a 48-18 victory.
Captain George Whitelock says they didn't work hard enough in the first half.
"We were just too guilty of not getting urgent enough to get to our ball carrier.
"And perhaps at times we were standing too wide in our ball carriers and, therefore, they were able to get over our ball. Ahe penalty count was pretty heavily one-sided.
"So we're going to have to fix that up."
The two sides were level at 6-all after 35 minutes, but two quick tries gave the visitors a 20-6 halftime lead, before they ran in four more after the break.
