Holiday Fun for Families

Tuesday, December 20, 2016

Summer is here which means free family fun with Sport Bay of Plenty and Virtually on Track.

Join the Gems and the Otumoetai Foreshore Scavenger Hunt are challenges you can complete in your own time, explore the outdoors and win prizes!

Join the Gems is an ideal activity based game for families and individuals and is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Visit the Virtually on Track Gem sites in your local area and explore until you find the iconic locations shown on your region’s Join the Gems card.

Once you find the spot shown on the card, take a photo/selfie showing you in that location - then keep exploring until you have a picture at each of the locations in either a horizontal line or, for the chance to win a bonus prize, at all of the locations on the card!

Full instructions and Join the Gems playing cards can be found here.

Printed cards and instructions will be available to pick up from Podium Podiatry and Footwear stores, information centres, and holiday parks around the region.

Podium Podiatry and Footwear are the proud sponsors of the Join the Gems spot prizes and we are extremely grateful for their support! They have stores in Whakatane, Rotorua, Mount Maunganui and Bethlehem so be sure to pay them a visit!

While you're on the gem Sites try Geoteering, an exciting combination of treasure hunting, orienteering and geo-caching, click here for more.

Another fantastic event happening now is the Otumoetai Foreshore Scavenger Hunt.

Jump on your bike and explore Tauranga during the school holidays!

Download your scavenger hunt map and find the answers to 8 clues by cycling along the Otumoetai Foreshore between Harbour Drive and Fergusson Park.

This flat course is 8km return and perfect for families and children of all ages.

Submit your answers for a chance to win a $100 Avanti Plus Mount Maunganui voucher.

Visit the Avanti Plus Mt Maunganui store at 37 Totara Street for all your summer cycling needs!
