Go By Bike Day

Tomorrow is Go by Bike day throughout the Bay of Plenty and there are many motivated cyclists of all ages getting ready to bike to work, school or play on Wednesday morning.

Go by Bike day provides a chance for everyone to get on their bikes and stop off at the Pit Stops on their morning journey, to get refreshed and to also go into the draw to win a new bike - one for each area kindly provided by Rocket Bikes Tauranga and Smiths City Whakatane. Cyclists can enter at the Pit Stop or by uploading a photo of themselves and their bike on the                                               Sport BOP Facebook page

The Pit Stops will be manned by Sport Bay of Plenty staff and the teams from More FM and 1XX from 7am -9am handing out spot prizes, cold water, coffee (at some Pit Stops) and fresh fruit to help you on your way.

Go By Bike stemmed from the national Bike Wise calendar from previous years, this year being different with Pit Stops instead of the central location and breakfast.

"It's good to be able to mix it up a bit as it gives freshness to the day which traditionally has been a popular one" comments Nicki Scott, Sport Bay of Plenty Recreation Advisor. "With over 90 teams doing the Tour De Bay Corporate Challenge I imagine they will use Go by Bike day as another way to get biking as a team."
