Geyser Football - New partnership announced.

The presidents of Ngongotaha AFC (Eamon O’Donoghue) and Rotorua United AFC

(Deryck Shaw) today have announced a partnership for the entry of teams into the

Waikato Bay of Plenty elite youth football competitions under the banner of “Geyser

The competitions organised by Waikato Bay of Plenty Football are in:

Boys Youth - 13 and under; 15 and under; & 17 and under grades

Girls Youth -14 and under grade.

Subject to the numbers involved there may be more than one team in each grade. Both

clubs noted that these elite competitions, which are on a Sunday, will provide opportunities

for Rotorua District youth players to make regional and ultimately national squads,

Both clubs will still enter separate youth teams in the local and Bay of Plenty competitions

that are played on a Saturday. With the two clubs uniting to enter combined teams, this

will allow the players in the Rotorua District improved pathways to play at the highest level

of competition in the wider region.

Both clubs have signalled closer cooperation as a way to ensure that limited resources in

the game are used more effectively and the sport continues to develop on an ongoing

basis in the district.

Ngongotaha committee member Christine O’Donoghue and Rotorua United Director of

Football Ray Wells are currently calling for expressions of interest in coaching these

teams. The intent of Geyser Football Youth Academy is to get the best coaches, & support

them so that the teams and players play to the highest of their abilities.

Expressions of interest will close on 31 March.

This is the time for prospective coaches to register, so they are not overlooked for these

prestigious positions. Coaches interested should contact Ray Wells and Christine

O'Donoghue on their email addresses (below) detailing, their coaching experience &

qualifications, and specifying which teams they wished to be involved with.

Following the appointment of team coaches, the players will be invited to trials.

Independent grading will ensure players play and compete at their level of competition,

ensuring growth and development for all players.

Christine and Ray encourage players that have not yet registered, to do so with either

Ngongotaha AFC or Rotorua United as soon as possible.
