Free Te Puke Walking Group

Friday, October 14, 2016

Walking is a fantastic way to be active, stay motivated and meet new people and with the arrival of Spring there is no better time to get started!

Sport Bay of Plenty is facilitating a free Te Puke walking group starting next Tuesday 18th October.

The group will meet each Tuesday at 9.30am for 8 weeks to explore the streets, parks and reserves around Te Puke.

Walking routes will increase in length slightly as the weeks progress, allowing you to build your fitness and friendships and explore new areas.

Sport Bay of Plenty Recreation Team Leader Jen Riley has witnessed the benefits of walking first hand through her involvement in the City on its Feet programme and other initiatives in the Bay of Plenty, “We see great results from organised walking groups; it’s low impact, ideal for building fitness and very social too” says Jen.

The group is perfect for beginners, older adults or anyone who simply wants to enjoy a good walk with a bunch of like-minded people.

If you’re keen to be involved, the group will meet at the Countdown Supermarket car park, 8 Boucher Avenue. Wear suitable footwear and come dressed in clothing you can comfortably walk in and that is appropriate for the weather.
