EBOP Rippa Rugby - Results
Wednesday, June 7, 2017
It was a beautiful day to be out of the classroom and on the rugby fields as the best Rippa Rugby teams in the Eastern Bay of Plenty went head-to-head in the annual EBOP Rippa Rugby World Cup, held at Tarawera Park, Kawerau.
More than 300 kids from schools as far as Whakatane and Opotiki participated in the event, all contesting for one of four spots per grade that qualify for the Baywide event to be held next Friday in Rotorua.
Apanui School took out top honours, edging out Kawerau South by one point in the Year 3-4 final, while last year’s winners, Kawerau South School, regained their crown by beating St Josephs, Whakatane, 6-3 in the final.
Thanks to all the schools that participated, Kawerau Sports for the awesome facility, Kawerau Putauaki for the food, Bay of Plenty Rugby, and the Rotorua-based NZ Sports Academy for providing awesome referees.
