Every one that attended the Eastern Bay of Plenty Schools Cross Country Champs at Woodlands School in Opotiki were treated to perfect conditions and awesome races. Woodlands is, as you all know a great outlook with amazing viewing of all races.
These great conditions may have played a part in the fact that all but one race was faster than last year’s times.
Record numbers of over 370 runners took part from all over the Eastern Bay of Plenty including competitors from as far as Lake Waikaremoana (deep in the Ureweras) to Te Kaha (East Coast) and everywhere in between. Overall cluster champs were the Rangitaiki Cluster,
Whakatane came in second and the newly formed Tuhoe Cluster most certainly made their debut into the EBOP Cross Country known with many top 5 placings claiming themselves a very worthy third. The top 15 runners from each race have qualified to attend the Bay of Plenty Cross Country Championships at Kaharoa School in Rotorua next Tuesday the 25th of June.
Thank you to Woodlands School for their wonderful venue and thanks to all SBOP Staff and Parents that assisted marshalling.
