Easter holiday activities to keep you active
Monday, April 15, 2019
Stuck for Easter holiday ideas? We've put together a list of some of some of the fun sport and recreation activities on offer across the Bay of Plenty to help keep the kids active over the school break.
Free scavenger hunts - Bay of Plenty
As part of our Virtually on Track initiative, our Sport Bay of Plenty recreation team has put together four free self-guided scavenger hunts for the school holidays. Download the clues and get out to explore McLaren Falls Park, TECT All Terrain Park, Blue Lake and Ōhope Beach.
Sonia Lynds, Sport Bay of Plenty's recreation team leader says the scavenger hunts are a fun and engaging way to explore parks of high conservation value across the Bay of Plenty, including areas that were not necessarily well known.
"National guidelines recommend kids do at least one hour of moderate or vigorous physical activity spread over each day. Being active also has loads of positive effects on our happiness and overall wellbeing," explains Lynds.
"The school holidays are a great chance to spend some quality time together being active and building healthy habits. We find fun is the secret ingredient to getting kids active and creating a positive association with physical activity: try a scavenger hunt, play some games in the backyard or head out for a walk or ride at the local park. But most of all – get out there and have fun!"
