Draft Outdoor Spaces Booking Policy 2013

The Tauranga City Council Draft Outdoor Spaces Booking Policy 2013 is now open for public submissions until 12.00pm Friday 8th November. The draft policy affects all Clubs and Organisations operating on or using any of TCC’s outdoor spaces as it outlines Council’s approach to the booking and prioritisation of this space, including when two users are wanting to use the same space at the same time. Sport Bay of Plenty encourages all outdoor space users to submit on this policy as it is your opportunity to communicate your concerns with the prioritisation of use.

The objective and purpose of the policy is to set out the booking process that Council follows when users book outdoor spaces such as sportsfields, parks and other public areas. The reason for the proposal is to:

provide a consistent approach to decision-making for the booking of outdoor spaces;

provide clarity on Council’s preferences for the use of outdoor spaces;

ensure the efficient and effective management and operation of outdoor spaces;

direct users to the most appropriate space for their type of activity;

educate users on Council’s approach to the use of outdoor spaces;

provide direction on the approach Council takes when two users are wanting to use the same space at the same time.

Full copies of the proposed policy and submission forms are available from:

Council’s Willow Street Customer Service Centre
