Tauranga Heart Support Group

Description: Exercise aimed at improving balance, strength, endurance and having fun in a welcoming and social environment. These classes use a variety of standing and seated exercises to music, plus offer a hot drink and socialising opportunity held during the break between classes. The beginner’s class at 11am is perfect for those who are new to exercise and has more emphasis on seated exercises, while the 9.30am intermediate class incorporates a higher level of strength and balance for those who have more movement confidence and mobility. Taoist Tai Chi – Health Recovery Class

Description: Tai Chi is a gentle martial art, specifically designed to improve health. The turning and stretching in each of the movements of Tai Chi contribute to its focus on restoring, improving and maintaining health.

Health Recovery classes are specialised classes which enable people with chronic illnesses, or those who are recovering from injuries, to incorporate Taoist Tai Chi™ arts into their recovery. Movements are easily adapted for those with reduced mobility or who need to sit.

The health benefits include: improved circulation, balance and posture, increased strength and flexibility, and reduced stress.
