Bay of Plenty Primary & Intermediate School Sport
Sport Bay of Plenty co-ordinates, promotes and protects primary and intermediate school sport for all students. We work with national and regional sports organisations, clubs and schools to deliver quality events to primary school students while providing leadership and support for all involved in the provision of sport to primary schools and their students.
The Sport Bay of Plenty Primary School Coordinators provide support to primary and intermediate schools in the development of sport and other physical activity options that will encourage children to lead active lives.
We work with primary and intermediate schools to develop sports programmes that will increase levels of participation and to ensure each child has the opportuity to participate in as many sports as possible in an enjoyable and rewarding environment.
A strong focus is to encourage and support inter-school events and tournaments for primary and intermedaite schools.

ROTORUA MINI MARATHON 2012 – Friday 27th of April
Bay of Plenty primary school children have the chance to participate in their very own Rotorua Marathon.
The event is being organised as a collaborative project between Event Promotions (Rotorua Marathon Directors), Events and Venues (Rotorua District Council) and Sport Bay of Plenty, with the aim of getting more primary school children involved in this iconic event.
150 children participated last year from the Rotorua area alone and feedback for the event was excellent, so in its second year we are opening it up to children from around the Bay of Plenty.
Participating children are required to log 40km worth of running in the build up to the event (between February and April) and then they complete the final 2.1km of their marathon on the actual Rotorua Marathon course. This gives the children an idea of the commitment a full marathon is, with the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere that is created along the finish line of a real marathon course.
Each child that completes the mini marathon receives a goodie bag from Event Promotions as well as the chance to win spot prizes.
