HOW TO BECOME A GO4IT SCHOOL

Mid-way through each year GO4it opens its doors to extend to more schools and more Bay of Plenty students. Dependant on funding, GO4it always aims to deliver activities to a larger audience each year without compromising quality delivery. The process for application to become a GO4it school is:

  1. Expressions of Interest emailed to all schools by Sport Bay of Plenty
  2. Schools to discuss the content and nature of programme outcomes with all staff
  3. Schools express interest formally by completing application form and forwarding to the ‘Fundamentals Team’ at Sport Bay of Plenty
  4. Sport Bay of Plenty Board of Trustees make final decision on successful schools
  5. Schools notified of decision

Expression of Interest 2013

We are offering an opportunity for a limited number of schools to join the GO4it programme in 2013. Funding is only available for a limited number of interested schools across the Bay of Plenty. The final decision on schools will be made by the Sport Bay of Plenty Board.

If you are interested in being a part of this exciting opportunity please fill out the downloadable Expression of Interest form at the bottom of this page and send back to Debbie Garea (debbieg@sportbop.co.nz) prior to the 24th September. If you are successful you will be notified by the 8th October in order to start planning for 2013.

NOTE: prior to expressing your interest please ensure that you have read and understand the financial commitment required to become a GO4it school further in this article.

Decision Making

The final decision on schools in 2013 will be based around the following criteria:

  • The school demonstrates a positive sport and physical activity culture
  • The school demonstrates an environment which is supportive of fundamental skill development for all children
  • The school aims to collaborate with community providers to enhance effective community and Whanau involvement in fundamental skills and school sport opportunities
  • The school advocates the importance of fundamental skills and sport in their community
  • The schools ability to work together as a GO4it cluster – using a weekly clustered timetable approach
  • School size
  • The schools geographical location
  • Connection to GO4it in 2011 and 2012

Financial Committments 2013

  • The cost attached for schools to the GO4it delivery framework is based on $13 (+ gst) per child
  • GO4it Delivery Framework estimates the value per child to be $53.63

Sport Bay of Plenty will invoice each GO4it school $13 per child (+ gst). Each school will receive one invoice for the cost of the GO4it programme. This invoice will be sent in June 2013 and will be based on the Ministry of Education roll numbers as submitted in March 2013.

The additional modules will be subsidised by Sport Bay of Plenty, based on the schools preferences for delivery in these areas. There is an expectation that schools will also need to contribute to the cost of these additional modules. These services will be determined directly between Sport Bay of Plenty and each school.
