CoachForce

CoachForce is a nationwide programme that pulls together the power of sport organisations, community funding bodies and SPARC to give more people in the Bay of Plenty a great coaching experience.

The CoachForce programme aims to:

  1. Create more and better coaches, coaching more often, contributing to increased participation in organised sport at a community level.
  2. Encourage collaborative and strategic investment into sport between a range of partners.
  3. Provide a delivery mechanism for the New Zealand Coaching Strategy.
  4. To continually improve the quality of the coach education process, ensuring that coaches have ongoing pathways for future development.
  5. Increase the recognition and status of coaches to ensure they are valued and that coaching is seen as a rewarding experience.

CoachForce originated with Sport Bay of Plenty in 1997 with 5 summer codes and progressed to include 5 winter codes. We currently have 15 codes represented, whose coaches are guided by their respective Regional and National Sporting Organisations Coaching Strategies assisted and supported by The Sport Bay of Plenty Coaching Team Leader. In collaboration we facilitate the regional delivery of coach education, club development and volunteer recruitment and retention strategies.

Not only that, but with competent coaches, available parents will feel more confident to enrol their children into our sport, as they view structure as an integral part in their child’s development. Growing player numbers will lead to a greater pool of players that we can target for higher performance levels. In turn bringing NZ back as a force as a hockey playing nation.
