The 2011 awards have been extended the to include all sport volunteers –
coaches, officials, club administrators, first aiders, drivers, and orange cutters!

In recognition of the tireless efforts all volunteers the awards previously known as the Wattie’s Coach of the Year Awards are no longer just about coaches but acknowledge the special role all volunteers make to sport. The SPARC Volunteer Awards are an important opportunity to thank all the hard-working volunteers making a huge difference to sport throughout New Zealand.
Nominations are being taken across the following categories:
- SPARC Sport Volunteer Award: for volunteers 19 years old or older – the main award
- Wattie’s Student Sport Volunteer Award: open to school students ageed 13-18
- Lifetime Achievement Award: for 25+ years voluntary service to community sport
Sport Bay of Plenty will select regional winners from the above catagories. SPARC Sport Volunteer Award winners will receive a $400 store voucher. Lifetime Achievement Award recipients receive a $200 store voucher and Wattie’s Student Sport Volunteer Award winners receive a $200 store voucher, and a Wattie’s gift set and products.
Early bird nominations received before midnight 15 July 2011 will be eligible for the MORE FM Sport Volunteer Ambassador prize draw of a trip for two to the New Zealand Winter Games in Queenstown. The lucky winner will receive return airfares and three night’s accommodation at Queenstown’s Hotel Saint Moritz, JUCY car rental, three day Cardrona lift passes, equipment and $500 spending money.
Nominations open on Tuesday 14th June and run through until 23rd August 2011. Sport Bay of Plenty will announce the finalists ahead of the award breakfast to be held in September.
