Introducing David Jaggs, BayTrust CoachForce Officer for Canoe Slalom in the Bay of Plenty.
Background
- Current British Canoe Union UKCC Level 3 Coach with 7 years coaching experience at different levels with 6 years of competitive kayaking experience.
- Bachelor Degree in Applied Sport Science and Coaching (BSc) at Exeter University, where I received a scholarship and University Colours for my achievements
- Competed at three consecutive Kayak Surf World Championships, attaining 2nd in the Junior International Class, and 8th in the Mens International Class
- Represented the English team during 2003, 2005 and 2007 at the Team World Championships
KEY AIMS
To support, facilitate and improve the coaching strategy that the Bay of Plenty Canoe Slalom Committee, and the New Zealand Canoe Slalom Committee have been working towards, with a focus on:-
- Standardising the coaching syllabus.
- Raising the number and skill level of coaches in the region.
- Develop grass roots kayaking and make it accessible for all.
- Improve the developmental pathway from school kayaking to the elite and international programs.
- Facilitate the elite Canoe Slalom Athletes in attaining their goals and ambitions on the world wide stage.
