
BayTrust Athlete and Coach Scholarships
The BayTrust Sports Scholarships recognise both Coaches and Athletes across two categories; Coach Development Scholarship and Athlete Scholarships and aim to support and assist Bay of Plenty sporting and coaching talent to achieve on the national and international sporting stage. BAYTRUST COACH DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIPS
PURPOSE
These scholarships recognise the coaching talent found within the Bay of Plenty community. They are designed to assist coaches who contribute and add value to coaching in their area, to further develop their skills and put back what they have learned into the community. It is envisaged that the development opportunity of the coach should have a significant impact on or be past onto their respective communities.
ELIGIBILITY
Coach – Any person residing in the region covered by the BayTrust and Sport Bay of Plenty who is currently coaching at a recognised and endorsed level by their respective Regional Sporting Organisation or equivalent body. Please note that qualification requires athletes to be studying, training or working in the BOP Region.
SCHOLARSHIP VALUE
Coach – These will be to the value of $500 - $5000 dependant on the calibre of the application, impact on the community and others, costs associated with the course or development requirements as considered by the scholarship committee.
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must submit a coaching curriculum vitae of their achievements in the community coaching arena.
- Must attend an interview of the scholarship committee if required
- The scholarship will be conditional on the coach meeting the eligibility criteria outlined above. Endorsement from your regional sporting or national sporting in the form of a letter.
- Scholarships must be for educational / development expenses for local or international coaching opportunities.
- Applications will be assessed by a committee comprising the minimum of one representative from both Sport Bay of Plenty and the BayTrust.
- Successful applicants may be asked to assist Sport Bay of Plenty and/or the BayTrust with promotional / role model or similar opportunities. Updates as to the impact on the community will be expected.
APPLICATION PROCESS
There are two rounds of applications in a calendar year. At the close of applications a short listed group of coaches will be offered an interview with representatives of the BayTrust and Sport Bay of Plenty.

BAYTRUST ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIPS
PURPOSE
These scholarships recognise the sporting talent found within the Bay of Plenty of our junior athletes and are designed to assist high achieving people towards athlete development in international competition.
ELIGIBILITY
Athlete - Any young athlete of the Bay of Plenty aged 16 – 23 residing in the region covered by the BayTrust and Sport Bay of Plenty and who have achieved national representation at their sport.
Note - qualification requires athletes to be studying, training or working in the BOP region. Athletes at university outside of the Bay of Plenty do not qualify for this scholarship.
SCHOLARSHIP VALUE
Athlete – These will be to the value of $500 - $5000 dependant on the calibre of the application, level of competition, costs associated with competition and / or course requirements as considered by scholarship committee.
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must submit a sporting curriculum vitae of achievements in sport.
- Must attend an interview of the scholarship committee if required
- The scholarship will be conditional on the athlete meeting the eligibility criteria outlined above. Confirmation of enrolment from a tertiary institution or a letter from the respective Regional / National body endorsing selection is required.
- Scholarships must be for educational / development and / or international sporting competition expenses.
- Applications will be assessed by a committee comprising the minimum of one representative from both Sport Bay of Plenty and the BayTrust.
- Successful applicants may be asked to assist Sport Bay of Plenty and/or the BayTrust with promotional / role model or similar opportunities. Regular updates of progress towards desired outcomes will be expected.
